Cross-cultural Psychology Lab at the 7th PSPRS conference
From 24th to 26th of September 2026, our team participated in the 7th International Conference of the Polish Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality (PSPRS) in Kraków.
During the conference in the session “Religion, Collective Identity, Conflict, and Prejudice”, Maciej Marzec, MA student, presented “Praising God, Seeking Chaos? Religious Identity and the Need for Chaos” while Eryk Kowalski, PhD Candidate, presented “Collective Narcissism and Attitudes and Behavioral Intentions Toward Peace and War: The Role of Religion”. Paweł Borysiewicz, PhD Candidate, also presented his research in a talk entitled “Spirit in Service: Does Being Spiritual Help with Coping with the Challenges of Uniformed Service”.
In addition, our team – Jarosław Piotrowski, Magdalena Żemojtel-Piotrowska, Bartłomiej Nowak, Piotr Radkiewicz, Oliwia Stopka, and Eryk Kowalski – organized a symposium entitled “Collective Religious Narcissism Across Contexts: Measurement, Roots, and Consequences”. The symposium showcased our team’s research on religious narcissism, with a particular focus on its agentic and communal forms.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on our research over the past year, particularly our work on religious narcissism, share our findings with colleagues working on religion and spirituality, and exchange ideas that will help shape our future research.
