BETWEEN NARCISSISM AND ENTITLEMENT:
SELF-ENHANCEMENT
IN A CROSS-CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE III
14-17 May 2025, Warsaw, Poland
Conference agenda
Self-enhancement is a vital topic in different fields of psychology, including (but not limited to) social psychology and personality psychology. It can be seen as a universal human characteristic, which nonetheless shows interesting cross-cultural differences. Self-enhancement can be seen as an 'umbrella' term, related, among others, to such phenomena as self-esteem, narcissism, self-serving attribution bias, entitlement, and so on. There are interesting differences between cultures in understanding and evaluating self-enhancement, which make this topic especially valid for cross-cultural research.
The main goal of the conference is to facilitate discussion on studying self-enhancement from a cross-cultural perspective. We aim to integrate researchers from different psychology fields (e.g., social, personality, developmental, cognitive) and from different cultural backgrounds. As we all live in dramatically changing world – we especially welcome submissions related to vital problems of contemporary times: armed conflicts, COVID-19 pandemic or climate change challenges in the context of self-enhancement.
We hope that one of the conference results will be widespread research on self-enhancement conducted in a cross-cultural context. To this end, we also propose pre-conference workshops on methodological issues related to cross-cultural research.
The conference will take place from 14th to 17th May 2025, at the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski in Warsaw and the University of Warsaw, Poland with two preconference workshops (held on 14th May).
